BAYAN MUNA: SUPPOSED P20 WAGE HIKE WOULD NOT EVEN COVER IMPENDING FARE AND WATER RATE HIKE
Says workers demand P750 minimum wage
Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate today said that the supposed P20 wage hike being discussed by employers and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) would not even be enough to cover the impending fare and water rate hike as well as the continuing high prices of commodities.
“According to IBON Foundation, the daily family living wage of a 5 person family is P1,001. With the supposed P20 wage hike, minimum wage in NCR would just be P532, just barely half the needed amount of families. Government should do all it can now to shield Filipino consumers because this would aggravate the price shocks they are already experiencing,” added the Davao-based solon.
