BAYAN MUNA DENOUNCES TANIM BARIL VS NDFP PEACE CONSULTANT
Bayan Muna Chairman and former Rep. Neri Colmenares and Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate strongly denounced the arrest of Bayan Muna officer and National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) peace consultant Vicente Ladlad, as well as couple Alberto and Virginia Villamor last night. “It seems that state agents are now trying to replace farmers. Dati tanim bala lang ngayon todo na ang tanim baril at explosives para ikulong ang mga kritiko ng rehimeng Duterte. Dapat na nila itong tigilan at ituloy naman ang usapang pangkapayapaan,” said Colmenares. “Arresting the NDFP peace consultants would have a negative impact on the peace process and reflects on the sincerety of the Duterte administration,” he added. Rep. Zarate, meanwhile said: “The so-called guns and explosives taken are highly suspicious, and, we presume that these may have been planted again to unjustly pin them down. Sa halip na ituloy ang peace negotiations at tugunan ang ugat ng armadong labanan ay ganito pa ang ginagawa ngayon under the Duterte administration.”
“These arrests of peace consultants is ominous of things to come as the government is further precluding possible enabling conditions for the continuation of the peace process,” he said. “Just last September the Committee on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity approved House Resolution 2065 to resume the peace negotiations, but apparently Malacanang is deaf to the demands of the people?” added the Davao-based solon.
“Many solons signed this resolution in the hope that peace talks can continue because many have already been accomplished and it should not be just abandoned and wasted,” ended Rep.Zarate.###
