BAYAN MUNA TO MWSS: RELEASE DATA ON AREAS WITH NO WATER FOR LESS THAN 7 DAYS
Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares and Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate welcomed the MWSS decision for the rebates for more than 140,000 customers that were identified as “severely affected;” will receive rebate of P153.93 (for residential) covering first 10 cubic meters PLUS P2,197.94 — based on a list from Manila Water’s voluntary bill waiver program but said that this is not enough.
“This is a positive development and just after a few weeks after we filed our complaint against Manila Water but other consumers affected by the water shortage should also be justly compensated,” said Colmenares.
“We disagree that those affected by 6 days or less with no water will not have sufficient compensation,” added the Makabayan leader.
Rep.Zarate meanwhile said that “the MWSS should ensure that all customers that were inconvenienced by the water shortage should receive a rebate,”
“Public consultations should also be done for the rebates and for additional damages,” the progressive solon added.
“This rebate is not enough though and more compensation for Manila Water costumers should be in order especially since many areas still do not have water for 24 hours a day,” ended Colmenares.###
